Status of this chapter
This textbook was authored from reading sources. No actual repository builds, tests, debugging, API calls, or issue/PR posts were performed. Practical work below is an exercise to undertake; reading is not an execution result.
Learning objectives
- Build a path of three to five arrows from the entry point to the external boundary.
A reading order
Read a usage example, then the public entry point, implementation, and related tests. In one session, focus on what type the input becomes, where it is validated, and where it leaves the system. Do not open every related file at once. For generated code, check whether a generation source exists too.
A short concrete example
In the Python SDK core.py that was reviewed, ApiClient receives Config and passes header_factory for authentication, retry_timeout_seconds, http_timeout_seconds, and other settings when constructing _BaseClient. What this verifies is the passing of configuration. Check retry conditions and transmission order separately in lower layers and tests.
A different CLI route
In bundle.go, comments describe Bundle as holding configuration and runtime state, and transformations as Mutators; the file imports the Go SDK. Use this as an entry point and select just one command. The name validate alone does not establish that no external communication occurs.
Practical exercise: Practice: trace one operation end to end
- Read the ApiClient constructor.
- Write three settings it passes and their expected roles.
- Go to a definition and test one of your expectations.
- Attach permalinks to a path of three to five stages.
Deliverable: A processing diagram and one unresolved point.
Understanding checks
Answer in your own words before reading the answers. The answers and explanations below are for self-review, not automatic scores or execution results.
Does an import prove that something is always called when a feature runs?
Answer: No. A dependency, a call path, and a runtime observation are different kinds of evidence.
Your learning progress
Recording mode: manual.

MENTAL MODEL / REASONING ORDER
From an announcement to your own decision.
Compare the announcement with the conditions in the paper and official documentation.
